Brian is a pilot. He wants so badly to fly commercially and has always wanted to fly for American Airlines. On one trip to Dallas, we went to the American Airlines Flight Museum where I picked up an airplane cookie cutter. It's been sitting in my cabinet for a couple of years now. So when Jade and I decided to do sugar cookies, I knew I had to pull out the airplane cookie cutter and make some American Airlines jets for Brian.
I used Dorie Greenspan's recipe for Sugar cookies that I had gotten from Brown Eyed Baker. I also used the recipe on her blog for royal icing.
Before:
After my feeble attempt at icing:
In my defense on the awful picture of the iced cookie...I tried to take a picture outside of the cookie to get some natural light. However, the humidity is about 100% every day and my camera fogged up as soon as I stepped outside. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I had a good time doing the cookies and I'm proud of my first try. It's definitely something I'll have to practice and work on perfecting. Be sure to check out Jade's blog, The Mess Pot, and keep checking back to see what we'll try next!
Also a big thank you to my friends Emily and Jon at Beaty Photography for their unbelievable shout-out and kind words. Y'all are awesome!

Do you like lasagna? If so, I have a killer recipe I'll have to share with you! It's a little labor intensive, but so worth it!
